Registered Piano Technician ptg
My love for piano began at the age of 8 playing by ear and playing in school, church and in various musical groups as a grew up. I’ve played piano and keyboards for as long as I can remember (many of those years professionally) and have a genuine love for the instrument. In fact, when I’m not working on pianos, you can catch me online or at a show as Jonny Strykes.
I believe this love of playing adds to my unique opinion of how a piano should sound and feel. I believe the piano should be inspiring to those that sit down to play it…no matter what skill level. Whether it’s a small home spinet or a concert grand — no piano is too small for inspiration! My piano technician career began in 2005 when I started working with acclaimed piano rebuilder, AC Pianocraft in New York City. Now a Nashville resident since 2010, I have been serving homes, churches, pianos retail outlets, studios, schools and just about anywhere else that has a piano for over 14 years. I currently serve as President of the Nashville Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild. It is my absolute pleasure to witness the reactions of people when their piano works the way it is supposed to, and I look forward to helping you with yours.

Originally from Western North Carolina, I have been passionate about music since very early on in my life. I moved to Nashville in 2014 seeking out opportunities to work in the music industry. Little did I know, piano technician work would be presented to me by a friend and mentor in the piano technician community, Jon Loyd, RPT. I studied under Jon, as he helped develop my skills in the trade. Since then, tuning/repairing pianos has become a passion of mine and I have been dedicating my time towards improving the sound and playability of these instruments. I look forward to connecting with those who cherish the pianos they play and make it my mission to improve their instruments in a way they didn’t know was possible.

Music has been a part of my life since the day I was born. As a young child in southern Mississippi I was fortunate to be surrounded by music. My father took me to concerts and brought me along to some of his gigs (he played Jazz clarinet and saxophone). And I regularly heard our grand piano being played throughout the house by my classically trained mother. Eventually, I learned to play drums and piano and started doing my own gigs. I took my love of music to Nashville in 2014 where I attended Belmont University and received a Bachelor’s in Commercial Music. While spending the next few years touring and recording and producing artists, I discovered a genuine interest in piano tuning and repair. That’s when I began an apprenticeship with Jon Loyd, RPT and joined the Piano Technicians Guild. Jon has become a mentor and a friend, and I’ve devoted much of my time to the continuing education and practice of piano technician work. I aim to bring my passion for pianos to your instrument and help you enjoy it to the fullest.
